A day in the life of a Kid’s Republic pupil

Our doors open at 07:15. Parents drop off the older kids in the larger classroom, and the littles in their classroom, for morning freeplay. At 08:45 we pack away and all have breakfast together.

Then it’s a bathroom break before we start our school day.

At 09:00 the 2-5’s gather in the large class for lesson. Each teacher has a turn to present a theme, so that the kids are exposed to all the teachers and are comfortable with everyone. Combining the age groups helps facilitate a positive and interactive learning experience.

Around 09:25 we fetch the 1-2’s to join us for singing. A different teacher will choose 4 songs for the week and lead us in joint musical collaboration.

After this we break up into our classes for arts and crafts as well as group learning and fine motor activities. E.g counting, colours, shapes, days of the week, etc; threading, puzzles, playdough and building blocks.

Once our classroom learning time is over, we spend the rest of the morning playing outside on our large playground, or undercover in our paved and synthetic lawned enclosed area. During this time we will have a snack and at 11:55 we wash our hands and get ready for lunch.

On Fridays we all get together at 10am for Friday Boogie! That’s where the kids and teachers choose 3 popular songs to dance to! A highlight every week!

Around 12:15 a third teacher will read stories till our half day friends are collected at 12:30.

The full day children will then settle down to some audio books and have a nap.

At 14:30 the aftercare kids have their snack brought from home and then it’s play time until Mom or Dad collect them. Our school closes at 17:30.
